Three Easy Card Tricks
No matter if you're young or old, an easy to perform card trick impresses us all. Here are three quick and easy card tricks that are guaranteed to whet your interest in learning more about card magic, while amazing your friends and family. Enjoy!
1. Blind Man's Bluff
Effect: The spectator blindly uncovers his own card.
You Need: A regular deck of cards.
What You Do: The spectator shuffles the deck. Have him keep half the deck and hand the remaining cards to you. When you turn your back, have him select a card, remember it and place it on the top of his half-deck. While he's doing this, turn the bottom card and the second card from the top of your stack face up. Turn around and have the spectator hold out his half-deck. Place your stack on top of his, then ask him to place his hand, with the cards, behind his back. Ask him to blindly move the top card to the bottom, to show you aren't trying to fool him. Then, again blindly, have him turn the current top card over and stick it in the middle of the deck. Now, the spectator can bring the cards forward. Take the deck and run through the card until you find the face up card. Ask the spectator to name his card. Then turn over the next card and show him that he's found his own card!
2. Wallet Prediction
Effect: A spectator picks a card from the pack, shocked when you pull a matching card out of your wallet.
You Need: A regular deck of cards, with the exception of two identical cards. Let's say the seven of diamonds. Plus a wallet, and a strip of tape.
What You Do: Before the trick, place the first seven of diamonds in your wallet. Place the second seven of diamonds on the top of the deck of cards. Next make a loop out of the strip of tape and attach it to the bottom of the wallet. All set? Take out your wallet and inform the spectator that it holds a prediction inside. Then have the spectator select a card from the deck without looking at the card. Place the card on the top of the deck. Offer up some banter next. Anything you want. Something about the attraction of like cards, perhaps. While engaging in the banter, nonchalantly place the wallet on top of the deck with the tape down. The tape will grab the top card and remove it when you remove the wallet. The seven of diamonds will now be the top card. Next, have the spectator turn over the top card of the deck, showing it to be a seven of
diamonds. For the big finish, slowly open the wallet to expose second seven of diamonds. A match!
3. Mixed Up Cards
Effect: The spectator deals the card himself, stopping whenever he chooses. When the final card is turned over, it matches the card identified in a written note.
You Need: A deck of cards. A written note that says: Queen of Hearts. The note goes inside an envelope. The envelope goes into your pocket, with the Queen of Hearts behind it, face up.
What You Do: Have the spectator shuffle the cards, then deal them out one at a time, stopping whenever he chooses. The cards should not to be dealt into a neat pile. They should be tossed haphazardly anywhere in the middle of the table. This is the key to the trick. while the cards are being dealt, remove the envelope from your pocket, with the Queen of Hearts hidden face down beneath it. Once the spectator has decided to stop the deal, drop the envelope onto the pile, which will add the Queen of Hearts. Next, have the spectator open the sealed envelope and read the note inside. And finally ... turn over the top card, the Queen of Hearts, showing the note was correct!
